Twenty days have passed since the Deepwater Horizon explosion in the Gulf of Mexico. At 5,000 barrels pouring into the gulf per day, the estimated count is now 100,000 barrels floating in our irreplaceable sea water. British Petrolium now faces nearly 100 civil lawsuits, and an article in Businessweek reveals that BP had cut corners on safety measures to satisfy stockholders.
It’s all about the money. It’s always been about the money. Literally, waves of devastation now wash up on our borders as the Earth Mother bleeds out into our precious water. And I wonder how guilty they feel. I hope their conscience is haunting their dreams. I hope they sleep in fear, and that all big business learns from this mistake.
I have one question for all those boards of directors and stockholders looking to maximize profits. What is the life of this planet worth to you? How much do you value your own lives? Do not you value the lives of other human beings? Wake up from your nightmarish dreams of greed and take some responsibility as a power of worldly influence. Everyone knows it’s the corporations that rules this world as much as governments these days.
